They are an authentic representation of most heli pedals, and while most fixed-wing a/c have swivel style pedals, this style of pedal is much more functional for a desktop home flying setup where you need less clearance under the desk to move your legs and because the pressing down motion fixes the pedals in place (with the old Saitek's, I had the problem of the set sliding forward whenever I aggressively applied force)
